Save calculated fields

I shall be embarrassed if someone tells me this can be done already.... I have a number of calculated fields that I'd like to use in a number of different queries (they're mostly based on functions I've written). Instead of having to write them out each time, could they be saved somehow as a library and then used in the query builder? I can do something similar with code snippets in the SQL editor, but not in the query builder.
