Hello, I have been trying to connect to my own computer to simply learn and write queries for, at the moment, simple data sets in CSV format. My issue: regardless of which SQL program I use, be it mySql WorkBench, HeidiSQL, SQLyog, Toad for MySQL, I cannot connect locally. I use the standard 127.0.0.1 localhost root port 3306 setttings and to no avail. I have created an exception in my Windows Firewall for port 3306, I cannot find Toad in the list of Services. I have tried every combination of the above settings in fields Host, Username, Password. Is there anything I am missing? I'm almost beginning to think I misunderstand entirely what it means to connect locally... I have not set up a server, or have any previous database ready. A colleague of mine uses SequelPro on her Mac and simply imports CSV files to query them. Also, I have now attempted to connect locally using an SQL program using both of my computers... making it feel as if there really is something wrong with the way I'm attempting to connect. If anyone would be able to help, it would be much appreciated. I have never hit a roadblock so early in my attempts to learning a computer software, I am barely making it past the installation... Thank you. Alec
